Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has made a significant public commitment, vowing never to betray the trust of his predecessor, former Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, or the people of the state in the course of executing his duties. This declaration came during a peaceful All Progressives Congress (APC) state congress held yesterday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Damaturu.
The statement underscores the importance of political continuity and loyalty within the ruling party's structure in the North-East state, framing governance as a sacred trust passed from one administration to the next.
This political event in Yobe occurs alongside a major national security development. The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has inaugurated a Committee on State Policing. The IGP explained that the committee is expected to develop a workable framework for the operation of state policing in Nigeria without undermining the national security structure.
In the nation's capital, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday presented certificates of return to the newly re-elected Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, and his Vice, Mohammed Nadabo. It also presented the certificates to other winners of the Feb. 21 Area Council elections.
Separately, in the aviation sector, a policy review is underway. According to the aviation minister, the first week of Nigeria’s airport cashless policy will be reviewed to enhance efficiency, boost revenue, and curb corruption at airport payment points nationwide.
