The Nigeria Police Force is poised for a significant transition in its public communications leadership. The Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Hundeyin, will officially vacate the office in Abuja on Friday. This move concludes his tenure in the national headquarters' top media role, a position critical to managing the public image and narrative of the police force.

Hundeyin was appointed to the prestigious role of Force Public Relations Officer in September 2025. His appointment was part of a broader strategic reshuffle within the force's senior command structure. At the time, he held the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), indicating a promotion into this high-profile position from a senior operational level.

He succeeded Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who had been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). This succession pattern underscores the career progression within the police hierarchy, where effective performance in the spokesman role often leads to elevated command positions. Adejobi's promotion created the vacancy that Hundeyin was selected to fill less than six months ago.

Prior to his national appointment, Hundeyin served as the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command. His tenure in Lagos, Nigeria's most populous and commercially dynamic state, provided invaluable experience in handling complex, high-pressure media relations and public crises. This frontline experience in a major command was undoubtedly a decisive factor in his selection for the demanding federal role at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The search for his successor will be closely watched, as the new Force PRO will inherit the challenge of bridging the gap between the police institution and the Nigerian public.
