A couple who ran a 'baby factory' in Ondo State has finally been jailed. After an 11-year court battle, Prince Ogundeji Abiodun and his wife, Ayodele, were sentenced to 14 years in prison. They were found guilty of holding young pregnant girls against their will and selling their babies.
The court didn't just send them to jail. It also took away their illegal wealth. The couple must forfeit eight cars, two bungalows, and N4 million in cash to the government. This is the money they made from their cruel business.
Three victims who bravely testified in court will each get N1 million. This is a small compensation for the pain they suffered. The head of NAPTIP in Lagos, Mrs Comfort Agboko, called it a 'landmark victory'.
This case matters to all Nigerians. It shows that the law can catch up with criminals, even if it takes years. It also warns others who might try to profit from human trafficking. The agency is asking the public to report any suspicious activity. We must protect our young girls from this kind of evil.
